Basswood is one of the straightest hardwood that can be stained and sanded to a smooth furnish. Its strength and lightweight making it the ideal wood for blinds. Basswood’s most common draw back include warpage and fading.

Plaswood compared to Basswood is simple – Plaswood is a composite of wood and plastic. The advantages include being cheaper,  less likely to fade and warp. Historically the biggest drawback was the finish but as manufacturing has evolved so has the finish.
